分数 & 放置

The Accuplacer is used for academic placement purposes to determine whether Learning Support (LS) courses are needed. Students with a non-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) major have the option to take the Accuplacer to exempt Learning Support placement if valid 坐/行为 分数 不提供. Students with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) major are strongly encouraged to take the Accuplacer if valid 坐/行为 分数 不提供.

If the student chooses not to take the Accuplacer and the exemption criteria for support has not been met, the default placement will be in an entry level collegiate course with corequisite support. Students wishing to attempt to place directly into Corequisite Learning Support Math for 干专业 or into MATH 1111 as a stand-alone math course should schedule an appointment to take the Accuplacer. Students may exempt Learning Support placement in English and/or Math if they have earned a grade of “C” or better in a collegiate level English and/or Math course from a qualified post-secondary institution and submitted sufficient 行为 or 坐 test scores.

Incoming students are placed into LS 放置 co-requisite course(s) if they meet any of the following conditions:

    • For all majors - An 坐-EBRW score below 480, 行为-English score below 17. 成绩必须 be no more than 7 years old.
    • For non-STEM Majors - An 坐-Math score below 440 or an 行为-Mathematics below 17. 成绩必须 be no more than 7 years old.
    • For STEM Majors - An 坐-Math score below 510 or an 行为-Mathematics below 20. 分数 must be no more than 7 years old.
    • Failure to meet minimum scores on the Accuplacer placement tests if 坐 or 行为 scores 不提供. 成绩必须 be no more than 1 year old.
    • Having a high school GPA of less than 3.19
    • Failure to meet the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) requirements in English 或数学.
    • Failure to exit co-requisite course at prior college or technical institution.
    • Have a graduation date of 2016 or prior AND does not have qualifying 坐/行为 scores or has no attempted college credit

Learning Support Co-requisite Courses

It is required that Learning Support students meet each term with an academic advisor for advice regarding course selection. For this reason, an advisor hold is placed on each student’s record each term. The hold is lifted after the student has passed the course and no longer in co-requisite courses. Please see below for the co-requisite 课程:

Learning Support co-requisite courses do not count towards degree requirements or a student’s GPA at East Georgia State College. They are, however, used to calculate a GPA for HOPE, Pell and other financial aid awards, and the courses and grades earned appear on a college transcript. Learning Support co-requisite courses are graded using the same system as other East Georgia State courses.
